I had Gareth as a teacher during my second year at Winstanley college. During the first half of this year I was unfortunately unable to attend college and one of my greatest concerns was integrating back into my lessons and catching up with my very intelligent peers.
Luckily for me Gareth was not only a fantastic teacher during lessons where he would dissect every new concept thoroughly enough making sure no student was left uncertain, he had already been actively emailing me all the content from lessons prior to even meeting me!
This meant for me once I had re-joined college, I knew catching up on biology would be simple enough if I worked hard enough. However this was made even easier with Gareth as he would always find time to re visit parts of the syllabus on a one to one basis right up until our summer exams.
Overall Gareth stood out to me as a great teacher for always going the extra mile for his students. I could see he wanted to get the best out of every student in biology, spending every spare minute of his lunch breaks helping those like myself and even students that came from other biology classes! I think all of this reflects most in the fact that after missing half of an incredibly important year, I still came out with an A in Biology and I have Gareth to thank for most of that.
