I have had the privilege of spending the last few years teaching Biology at an Ofsted Outstanding Sixth Form College in the North West of England. Prior to that I spent over ten years as a Head of Biology and Science at one of the country`s most academically successful state schools, which was also rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

I have always had a great passion for my subject and have been very succesful in my academic achievements. After achieving A* grades in Sciences and Maths at GCSE and an A grade at Biology A-Level, I went on to study my subject at one of the UK`s Top 10 universities, the University of Warwick. Here I gained a 2:1 degree in Biological Sciences, before going on to complete my PGCE.

I have a reputation for building highly succesful relationships with my students, inspiring them to achieve their very best in my subject. The demands on a student today are extremely high and I believe I can offer a tailored solution, that is challlenging yet also highly supportive and developmental.

Working at a Sixth Form College and a school both judged to be Outstanding by Ofsted, I have gained huge experience teaching A-level Biology (OCR and AQA) and GCSE Science (OCR, AQA anc Edexcel). My lessons have been consistently rated Outstanding by both Ofsted and the school`s own self-review processes. I have always had a reputation for inspiring and motivating my students and have demonstrated the ability to consistently bring about extremely high levels of progress. During my time at the school I was fortunate enough to undertake the role of Head of Biology and Science. This provided me with the opportunity to reguarly attend exam board meetings, where I worked very closely with senior examiners from the country`s main exam boards. Being responsible for departmental exam analysis allowed me to understand the areas in which students consistently under perform at GCSE and A-level, enabling me to develop strategies to address these common areas of weakness.

I have a history of getting the very best from my students, regardless of ability. I have helped countless students over the years secure places on some of the most competitive courses, at some of the country`s most prestigious universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Many of my students have gone on to study Science related subjects such as Medicine, Veterinary and Dentistry. I am just as delighted however when I help support a student to achieve their goal of securing that vital Pass level grade at Science GCSE.
