Ellie G, Veterinary at the University of Liverpool

I was lucky enough to have Gareth as my biology teacher in my first year of college, and even though this wasn’t the case for 2nd year, that didn’t stop me for going to Gareth for help and to have a quick catch-up too!

Needless to say, Gareth is a very approachable guy and will go out of his way to help, even when you don’t understand at first! Throughout my time at Winstanley I was the sort of person who asked a LOT of questions until I understood, and I can’t thank Gareth enough for his patience, positivity and resilience to help my get my head around many confusing biology concepts!

Gareth also has brilliant methods of teaching; I will never forget holding hands with my friends outside our classroom as he tried to teach up about the types of bonds within proteins! These, for me, are the sort of things that made biology my favourite subject at college and although I already knew I wanted to do veterinary at Uni, it made me much more excited for the physiology aspect of the degree – Not just for fixing animals!
