Currently on a Soccer scholarship at the University of Illinois for Physiotherapy

There are few teachers that are more passionate than Gareth. Being a part of his class in the second year of college for me was a blessing as I had already heard great things from him by frieinds who had him the year before. The most compelling thing for me was how understanding he was. There were times I could ask the same question 5 times and he would still have the patience to answer them carefully and slowly as if I had asked them for the first time. For me this shows someone who cares and more so shows someone who understands that biology is not easy for everybody. I feel patience is a key trait in a teacher and Gareth definitely has that!

I am now living in the U.S in Illinois on a soccer scholarship. I am pursuing a career as a physiotherapist and so it was mandatory for me to take biology there. Believe me when I tell you that you can see the difference in teachers who really care and ones that don’t care as much. Thankfully the material in those classes were the same as 2nd year biology in Winstanley (which I had with Gareth) and I ended up passing both semesters with an A in biology. My fellow American students however didn’t have such a luxury and struggled quite a bit with the class. I couldn’t help but wonder how much better off they would of been with a teacher like Gareth.
